Cookies and storage
QuizDown uses one cookie, and it doesn’t track you. qd_app only tells our server you’re a player, so quizdown.app opens the game instead of the welcome page. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and no third-party scripts, fonts or embeds.
To make the game work, the app keeps a few things on your device, using your browser’s local storage. They’re strictly necessary or remember choices you made, they never leave your device except as part of using the game, and none of them track you across other sites. That’s why we don’t ask for consent; we tell you instead.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
qd_app (cookie) | Opens the game, not the welcome page, when you visit quizdown.app | 1 year |
qd.token | Keeps you signed in | Until you sign out |
qd.match | Lets you reconnect to a match in progress | Until the match ends |
qd.lastTopic | Remembers your last topic for the Play button | Until you sign out |
qd.set.* | Your settings: sound, volume, vibration, theme, motion | Until you change them |
qd.notice, qd.hide.* | Remembers that you’ve seen this notice, or hid an offer | Up to 30 days, or until cleared |
qd.party.host | The couch party this screen is hosting (session storage) | Until the tab closes |
| Offline cache | Copies of the app’s own files so it loads quickly and offline | Until the next update |
| Push subscription | Only if you turn on reminders | Until you turn them off |
You can clear all of it in your browser’s settings for this site. You’ll be signed out, and a guest account can’t be recovered afterwards.
If we ever add something that needs your consent, we’ll ask first, and the game will work the same whether you say yes or no.
